Amy Byington has trained in dance (ballet, jazz, modern, character and tap) in Houston (at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts), in New York City (at the Joffrey Ballet School and Broadway Dance Center) and in Monterey (at SpectorDance). For over a decade, she was the Director of the SpectorDance School and Youth Company and this past year she taught at the Pacific Arts Complex in Monterey. Amy currently serves on the SpectorDance Board of Directors, believing in their mission of "Creating & Presenting Dance That Makes A Difference!" Amy is passionate about teaching dance and choreographing for all ages and levels. She is excited to start this dance endeavor at the YMCA of the Monterey Peninsula.
“I've taken quite a few ballet classes in my time and can say Amy's are unique in the best way. Her barre and floor combinations are always very creative and thoughtful, which keeps things fun and interesting. Because Amy's always incorporating new ideas and movements into her classes, her students become very well-rounded technique-wise as well. I'd highly recommend her ballet classes to dancers of all ages and levels." Alexis Han-Holdern (2023)
